David (www.davidhanson3.com) is a freelance writer, photographer and producer who has worked with magazines, non-profits and commercial clients for a decade. He's directed feature shoots as a magazine editor, authored the book Breaking Through Concrete (2011, University of CA Press), and written and directed the award-winning documentary film, "Who Owns Water." His audio travel broadcast "Calling Home" won a Gold Lowell Thomas Award in 2017. David has always loved guiding and teaching. He worked as an outdoor education instructor in Yosemite, Olympic and Voyageur National Parks, established a photography program at an inner-city middle school, and led a photography course with National Geographic Student Expeditions. He has led a bike tour from Paris to Barcelona and has completed numerous personal expeditions, included summiting Denali, two 500+ mile river journeys, and multiple week-long bike and kayak tours. He lives in Hood River, OR with his wife, Christine and daughter Ada.
